Welcome to Year 1!
We are looking forward to you starting your learning journey with us in Year One. Here is some information to help you know what you will need and what you will be learning this year!
The Year 1 Team.
Mrs Darroch – Year 1 Teacher
Mrs Smith/ Mrs Malik – Learning Assistants
Mrs Winter/Ms Mullin – Year 1 Teacher – Thursday/Friday (pm)
Please make sure that each day you bring into school your reading book and reading record. You will also need a water bottle (no juice please). Our PE days will be a Tuesday (indoor) and Thursday (outdoor), please wear your PE kits on those days.
Homework
Homework will be set each week on Friday and will need to be returned the following Wednesday. Spellings will be tested on a Thursday.
Children need to read at home at least five times a week and make sure they have their diary signed by an adult. Children have the opportunity to visit the Library each week and are issued a Library book to take home. Please ensure Library books return to school each week so they can be changed for a new one.
Our Class Saint
Our Year 1 Class saint is Saint Francis of Assisi
He is the Patron Saint of the environment, animals, and birds because of the respect he gave to all God's creatures.
Educational Visit
In the Spring Term we are hoping to visit Ryton Pools to learn more about animals including humans.
Curriculum
Please see below the year 1 general timetable and curriculum overview for details as to what we are learning each half term.
