Year 6 have had an amazing start to the academic year, and we are looking forward to experiencing even more learning and fun this term!
Here is an overview of our curriculum in Year 6 so that you can see what learning we have in store this year:
We began the term with a lovely Holy Cross MAC Coventry Cathedral trip, which was a great way to start the year.
We have also already begun our Confirmation preparations, with a wonderful Q and A session with Father Simon, so please do stay tuned to find out more as we take this important step in our journey of faith.
Meanwhile, this term in history, we will be learning all about the history of the Maya - we are really excited to learn all about their lives, their demise and their legacy.
In science, we have been learning about electricity and the impact of increasing component numbers in circuits, doing some great hands-on experimentation and exploration!
In RE, we have been learning about 'Followers of Christ' before moving on to 'Sacramental Celebrations'.
In English, we will continue our writing based on 'Macbeth', discovering more about those three sinister creatures lurking in the shadows and their prophecy... We cannot wait to read the children's stories and diaries as they show off their writing skills!
Finally, after a couple of great queries from parents/carers, we thought it might be helpful to share a couple of examples of the writing standard in Year 6:
1) Firstly, a balanced argument:
2) Secondly, a short story:
Please do revisit this page later in the term to find out what we get up to next in our first term of primary school, as our French, music and art get going too!
